The Smartphone is a Great Blend of the Cell Phone and Pocket PC

You know that new hand held computer you just bought? The one you paid a couple hundred dollars for because it was the best one available? Well, the bad news is that in one year, and sometimes less, handhelds software will be archaic and obsolete. Do not get upset about it, though. That is just the way that technology works. It is always moving forward. Hewlett Packard knows this, as evident by its obsolete Compaq iPAQ Pocket PCs that they produce and manufacturer. Technology that is new today is old tomorrow.

Let’s take for example the Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC 3835 as a great example of technology that was superb for its time. It contains pc software similar to that found in desktop and laptop computers, but in versions of Pocket Outlook, Word and Excel. The 64 MB of RAM and 32 MB ROM was quite impressive to say the least and the 240 x 320 color screen beat out its competitor, the Palm, any day of the week.

The 3835 had the fastest StrongARM processor at 206 MHz and featured an expansion slot for additional capabilities to add software and hardware.

The biggest turn for Compaq/HP has come in the way of the pocket pc Smartphone. This Smartphone is a great blend of the cell phone and pocket pc. As other companies have shown, more people want to combine their pocket PCs and their capabilities of making and receiving calls and turn it all into one amazing pocket pc phone. This does not even factor in the added advantages of getting a camcorder and camera, plus Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities.

As we have seen before and you will undoubtedly see again over time, technology is moving at an incredibly advanced pace.

It was a great palm pocket pc to own and use, but along came Hewlett-Packard’s buy out of Compaq and suddenly a new world of possibilities opened up. The 3900 series models featured a faster XScale processor and offered more available features and programming.

The high tech of today is the outdated model of yesterday. This was seen in the Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC 3835 when the 3900 series was released. Each new version improves upon the old one and gives people something more than they ever thought possible. If you are looking at pocket PCs and think you may want to purchase one, then check the specifications and do a little research. A new model may be right around the corner.
