Why You Need Professional Graphics On Your Site?

By Titus Hoskins

Coming from an art background I know a few things about graphics, layout and design. I can usually manage to produce passable graphics for my different sites. But they are just that - barely passable.

Quite frankly, until recently, I didn’t have the money to spend on professional graphics for my sites. Now, as my sites are generating income each day, I can afford to re-invest some of my earnings into professionally produced website graphics.

That’s exactly what I did!

I just wished I had invested funds into these website graphics when I first started online because professional graphics will give you a much better conversion rate. Can’t begin to imagine the revenue I have lost by not having professionally produced graphics by web design specialists or experts. A well-done graphic is worth its weight in gold because you get a much higher response rate.

I am talking from first-hand experience here… for my latest site I invested in some professional graphics and the sign-up rate is much better than for my other sites. Plus, when I added these graphics to my other existing sites, my sign-up rates jumped 25% to 50% - just by adding this graphic beside the sign-up form.

So if you have a product, newsletter, ezine, guide… make sure you place a good graphic or picture right beside your sign-up form… this will increase your conversions and sales. If you’re thinking about creating a new site, consider investing in professional graphics - header, footer, logo… you won’t regret it.

Mainly because most surfers or visitors to your site will be a net-savvy crowd, within seconds they will make the decision if your site is worth their time or not. Unless you instantly project a professional image or site, they will have clicked that back button before they even blink.

Image vs. Trust

In order to have a successful site you must create trust with your visitors. Having custom graphics done will give your site that unique professional look that web-surfers now demand. First impressions are the only impressions you get on the Internet. You must hook your visitor at the first click, or it’s game over. Sad but true.

No matter what kind of site you have, using professional graphics will prove helpful to achieving your goals. These graphics will give your site a fighting chance to at least capture your viewer’s attention and allow time for your brilliant content to reel them in!

Here are some other reasons why you need professional graphics on your site:

- To give and project a professional image - To give your visitors a tangible image of your product - To improve the quality of your site for everyone IS a critic - To help increase your sales or sign-up rates - To make navigation of your site easier

Always remember, the web has become a very competitive place, you must do everything you can to give your site a competitive advantage over your competition. Professional graphics will make your site stand out; killer graphics will firmly place your site in your visitor’s mind and help them remember your site and entice them to visit it again.

Professional website graphics are very useful tools in creating a consistent overall image of your site. They will aid in your site’s navigation and give your visitor a good impression of your site. Well-designed graphics will help your site project a professional image and keep visitors from instantly clicking that back button. Professional graphics will give your site a fighting chance at making that sale or sign-up. In other words, professional graphics greatly increases your chances of having a successful site. That’s the main reason why you should use them.

You Must Know These Basics To Improve Search Engine Ranking

By Lee Dobbins

Search Engine Ranking is the most essential ingredient for free traffic. Every body knows that search engine optimization, quality back links and original content are the key ingredients needed to improve search engine ranking. No matter what your niche or how competitive your keyword, these are a must.

But just what are the key elements you should focus on?

The first thing you need to consider is your keywords. What phrases and words are relevant to the particular page you are trying to get ranked? You need to research your keywords carefully to insure you get the most targeted phrase that has minimal competition. Your keywords are “key” and you should spend most of your time choosing the word or phrase that you want to rank for for each page.

Once you have your keyword phrase, you need to think about two things - on page factors and off page factors. On page factors are simply that - what you put on the page. This includes, meta tags, alt tags, titles and the content itself. It’s important to use content that adds value to the visitor - this way once you improve your rankings and attract more visitors to the page, you will have a better chance of getting a sale or getting your visitor to perform your most wanted action.

In order to improve search engine ranking on any given page, you must make sure you use your keyword phrase in the title, the description and keyword meta tags as well as the first sentence of your content, the middle of your content and near the end of your content. There is no need to overdo it, just having the phrase 3 times will suffice. Also, be sure to use your keyword phrase in the name of the file.

But the on page factors are not nearly as important as the off page factors.

These are the links that you get back to your web page. You want to be sure that your keyword phrase is used in the anchor text of most of the links you get to your page. It is important however, that you don’t have all the anchor text the same - mix it up a bit with variations of the keyword phrase so it looks natural. Certainly, it is better to get links from good quality pages that are on the topic of your page, but even links from general pages will help.

In order to improve search engine ranking, you need to get links and plenty of them. That is the single most important thing, even above the “article” that you have on your page. All other things being equal, getting more links than the competing pages in the top 10 search engine results will earn you a spot on that first page in most cases.

Why Page Rank is Important in Building Traffic

By Peter Nisbet

Google Page rank (correctly PageRank) is important in building traffic to your website for a number of reasons. Before we discuss why, here is quick heads up on how it works.

Page Rank is based on links between your site and other sites, in fact specifically between web pages, since it is links between individual pages rather than complete websites that interests Google. That is because Google lists individual pages and not domains. There is a formula that Google uses to determine the value of each link to your site, which is based on the PageRank of the web page providing the link and also the number of other links leaving that page.

You can see the page Rank in the Google PageRank bar on the Google Toolbar - it is the green bar that shows a numerical value of 0 to 10 when you hover your cursor over it. This value is logarithmic, which means that if it takes 10 links to reach PR 1, then it takes a lot more to reach 2. If Google uses a logarithmic factor of 8, as it might do (nobody knows), then it will take 8 links to your site to get to PR 1, 64 to reach PR 2, 512 to PR 3 and so on. This is very basic, since, as I have stated, it also depends on the PR of the page providing the link and the number of other links leaving that page.

Here are the top 4 reasons that in my opinion help most to generate traffic and make you money:

1. The higher your Google PageRank, then the higher Google is likely to list you in the search engine results pages. Google take the view than the more other websites link to yours, then the more relevant your web page must be to the topic in hand, otherwise they would not link to you. In fact, the links are to specific pages in your site, not to the site as a whole, which is why it is called “Page Rank” and not Site Rank.

2. The higher the Page Rank, then the more relevant other people will consider any particular page on your website to be. They will feel more confident that if they visit your site they will have their questions answered and find the information they are looking for.

3. A high Page Rank shows that you have a high number of links on the pages of other websites. There is then the possibility of others clicking on these links to get to your website.

4. The higher your Page Rank, then the more people will want you to link to their website. That means that they too will be likely to visit your site. They will also offer you a reciprocal link if you want one, and that too will provide you with more exposure online.

There are some factors you should keep in mind that could affect your Page Rank. The way your domain name is presented is very important. Take at look at these domains:domain.com, domain.com/index.html www. domain.com, www. domain.com/index.html

They are all different URLs that will lead somebody using them to your domain. However, search engine spiders see them all as different URLs, and if you use different ways to write your home page URL, then they will all be listed separately, and all be given a different Page Rank. Thus, the page rank for any one of them will be weaker than your page would have been if you had used only the one way to express it. Get into the habit of expressing your domain in only one way.

There are other ways in which poor use of your website URLs and also injudicious linking policies, can harm your Page Rank, but the main point that should keep in mind is that the your page rank applies to each page individually, and you get a share of the Google PageRank of the page that provides you with the link. If that page has a PR of zero, then you get nothing.

In giving my reasons for page rank being important in building traffic, I should stress that it is not one my more important ways of building traffic. However, Google takes notice of your PageRank, otherwise why would it bother giving you a Page Rank in the first place. For that reason alone it is well worth building up as many links back to your webpages as possible, not just for the traffic, but also to keep your website in the public eye.

It is the Home Page that is highest listed on most search engines, and also the page is given the highest PageRank, so if you can persuade others to link to your home page in return for a link from a page internal to your site, then that would be a good deal, and is what you should be trying for.

Do not ask me though, because I would a link back from your highest Page Ranked page

Page Rank is an important property of your website, and for more information on internal and external linking strategy check out Pete’s website Improved Search Engine Rank where you will find many other SEO tips.

How To Buy And Sell Links Safely

By Joshua Watson

Most well orientated bloggers that enjoy the many pleasures of the blogosphere have undoubtedly noticed that some of the most esteemed blogs on the internet have seen their Page Rank (PR) degrease, or in some cases, completely removed. Google has justified its latest actions by blaming bloggers for contributing to the propagation of spam and for attempting to exploit the PR system. The intention of this article is not to promote or discourage link building. It is intended to guide individuals interested in such practices by outlining a few important points and present a few tips worth taking into consideration.

Selling links

According to Google selling links is a big no, no. For the safety of any blog advertising such services is profoundly discouraged. It is always important to take into profound consideration any sudden suspicious offer received from unknown individuals. In the same way, advertising link sales on popular webmaster forums is a bad idea since they might be under the Google radar. Even link exchange with similar sites is vividly discouraged if the trading partner isn’t clearly identified.

Paid posting

The latest Google attack was felt hardest on blogs that conducted and promoted paid posting. According to Google the commercialization of blog post is a technique designed to swindle the Page Rank system and increase spam content on the internet. To avoid sudden PR death there are a few issues worth mentioning. Never advertise any paid, review or exchange post service on a blog. All those eye catching banners and flickering links advertising these services should be removed without more ado.

Only noFollow links

Google has determined that blogs using the doFollow attribute are predominantly used for spamming purposes since the code used is intended to instruct search engines that a hyperlink should influence the site in terms of search engine indexing. Displaying banners advertising the use of the doFollow attribute sends a clear message to Google so it is not recommended. In most cases using the noFollow attribute is seriously recommended.

Link farms are dead

Link farms or directory sites, as they are commonly called, are a danger and should always be avoided. These sites are the black sheep of the internet and in most cases have seen their PR drop considerably. If a blog or site has a few incoming links from directories that shouldn’t be a problem but if they represent nearly all inbound links, it could be considered worrying.

To Banner or not to Banner

Selling banners on blogs has become quite common practice, seeing its popularity increase especially over the past few months. This practice could be considered acceptable and safe, but just to be sure the blog should have the noFollow attribute enabled. For extra protection the links should only be directed to similar or related content sites.

Dangerous Affiliates

There are a few affiliate programs that represent a risk and should be used with some caution. Each person will have to judge whether they should or should not use them, given that running them discretely in most cases won’t be a problem. Such affiliate programs include text link selling programs, paid posting and site review services.

In the end of the day each person will have to decide if the gains are worth the risks. The best advice possible to be given is, maintain the services discrete and never be tempted to advertise them openly.

SEO - Do It Yourself or Outsource?

By Arun Pal Singh

Webmasters fall in of two categories when it comes to pay per click marketing. There are those who want to do everything themselves and there are those who like to outsource everything.

There are advantages and disadvantages on either side.

It is up to you to make your decision. But before you make your decision, you should possess a good knowledge advantages and hazards of each. Only then you would be able to make a decision without a bias.

Who Does Not Like a Freebie?

By Howard Farmer

Everybody likes a bargain! So Freebies are going to be very attractive. Of course, being free the first thought is that the product is going to be pants. However, you must remember that many free products are often used as marketing tools and the quality can be very good.

This article is looking at freebies that are useful to webmasters and can be downloaded.

First up - Good Keywords is free Windows software for finding the perfect set of keywords for your web pages. Knowing the right keywords to target is very important because your site should provide what people are searching for. You can download this at Goodkeywords.com. An alternative is Keyword Generator that is available from imsoftware4free.com.

Reciprocal linking is a tactic many webmasters use to increase the number of backlinks to their site. However, you often need to offer a reciprocal link back - the maintenance and reciprocal checking can become an administrative nightmare. Duncan Carver’s Link Management Assistant is a great boon. “Link Management Assistant” totally automates your reciprocal link partner management, allowing you to focus entirely on securing more strategic link partners to increase your websites link popularity & search engine rankings.

One of the key promotion techniques is article submission. By distributing articles you can gain many backlinks. One of the most time consuming aspects is the submission process to the 100s of article directories. Article Submitter addresses this problem extremely well. Another technique that is used to get one way links is via the very many link directories. Directory Submitter is a great tool to help you track down and submit to the directories.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - Internal Links, Keyword Density & Other Techniques

By Vanessa A. Doctor

SEO is a quite tricky, but helpful art of fully optimizing a Web site by improving internal and external aspects in order to increase the traffic the site receives from search engines. Online companies and organizations that practice this unique form of Web site optimization can vary; as there are some who have a more specialized approach, while others take a broader and more general approach.

Optimizing a web site for search engines usually may require verifying many unique facets, more so that SEO practitioners consider themselves involved in a much wider field of Web site optimization, as those elements are somehow interrelated to each other.

Why Search Engines Easily Locate An Optimized Web Site

It’s a fact these days, that most search engines continue to constantly work towards fine-tuning their technology to crawl the Worldwide Web more comprehensively and locate and retrieve more relevant results to users. However, as with almost all aspects of technology, there will always be a limit to how search engines can operate.

Whereas the right moves can attract you hundreds, or even thousands of visitors, along with wider attention, while the wrong moves can hide or bury your site deep in the search results where visibility is minimal. In addition to making content available to search engines, SEO can also help boost rankings so that content that has been found will be placed where searchers will be able to easily see it. The online environment is becoming increasingly competitive, and those firms who perform SEO will have a more distinct advantage in getting targeted traffic and buying customers.

Creating Better Incoming Links

As most SEO industry veterans would say it, a link is a link is a link. However, without the simplest form, your Web sit will not fare well in most search engines. It’s advisable that the more links you have, the better that chances you’ll get of being crawled by the search engine spiders.

It is also vital to ensure that you have the proper anchor text for your incoming links. According to experts, perhaps the best method of gaining good-quality links from other Web sites, is to link to those sites, and let them be aware that your site is there and hope for a reciprocal link from them.

Proper Keyword Density Matters

Analyzing the right keyword density for your Web site’s articles is truly helpful in making your Web site become more efficient, and visible as well. While you do not wish to go overboard and use the keyword every 5th word, ensuring that it comes up quite often will help you rank much higher in most search engines. It’s advised that you should place your keywords not more then 5% of the total per page, as putting more than that would amount to spamming.

Having The Right Web site Titles Helps

In ensuring that you attain the proper Web site titles for your pages is crucial, as the keywords you place in your title are helpful in ensuring that your topic is understood by search engines like Google for instance. One of the important aspects for ranking, is if the title is on-topic with the search results. Using appropriate, good titles and topics on your Web site helps to generate more online traffic than in attaining a higher placement on the listing.

Five Easy SEO Tips for Non-Techies

By Jennifer Williamson

Traffic: your website lives and dies by it. And there’s no better way to generate traffic than to rank high in the results pages of the important search engines: Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. There’s a common misconception that to get your site to rank high, you need to be a techie. This isn’t so. It certainly helps, but there are several things you can do to get your site ranked that require minimal technical skill. Here are a few.

Know your keywords. It helps to have a good idea of what words and phrases customers type into search engines when looking for a business like yours. This takes no technical skill at all. Simply write down all the words and phrases you can think of that relate to your business, product, or service. Try doing a search for businesses like yours on the Internet and see what websites pop up. You can discover new words by using a keyword research tool such as Overture or Wordtracker. There are many such tools on the Internet. Some are free, and others require a subscription.

Write and submit articles. Write some informative how-to articles relating to your business and submit them to article directories. Include a “resource box” with links back to your website. Your “anchor text”–the words that people click on to go to your site–shouldn’t simply be your site name. Instead, they should be keywords people are likely to use when looking for your site. Search engines look at the anchor text used on other sites to link back to yours when determining what keywords your site should rank for. Using keywords as your anchor text can raise your rankings for these words and phrases.

Write and submit press releases. Writing and submitting press releases to distribution sites such as PRWeb is another good idea. Like with articles, you’ll need to include links back to your site. Press releases are written in a different style–you’ll have to write with an eye towards what is “newsworthy,” as opposed to what is informative and helpful. PRWeb is not free, but there are some press release distribution sites that are.

Submit your site to directories. Website directories are the precursors to search engines. They are collections of links to different websites, arranged in categories. While they won’t increase your traffic, admission into the biggest directories (such as DMOZ) can increase your PageRank, which is helpful in raising your site’s authority on the net.

Start a blog. Starting a blog about your business can raise your visibility in your industry and introduce you to new customers. Blogs can be easily added to every day, making it more likely for search engines to spot them. If you blog about business topics, you will naturally include and start to rank for relevant search terms. And if you link to other industry blogs in your “blogroll,” you will attract the attention of other bloggers. If they like your content, they may link to you as well–and your visibility and traffic will go up.

Don’t stay away from SEO simply because you’re a technophobe. Much of today’s SEO best practices involve good writing–blogs, articles, informative content, autoresponders, e-zines, and more. Simply put some time into writing these yourself, or if writing isn’t your strong point, hire a professional writer. Your website will start seeing an increase in traffic–without a technical overhaul.
